          Harold is infamous for taking "trail checks" in the trees after a fresh blanket of powder.  Has been a Volunteer Ski Patrolman at Winter Park since 1951, was Patrol Leader in 1963-64, and was advisor to the Junior Patrol.  He was also a member of the Tyrol Ski Club from 1950-60, serving as their President in 1955.

          Harold has lent his talents and energies to improving the organizational aspects of both recreational and competitive skiing.  He became a Certified Official for races, conducted classes for the certification of Race Referees and official timers throughout the Rocky Mountain Ski Association, served as an Official Timer at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, and instigated sanctioned racing at Winter Park.  He coauthored and edited a book entitled Manual Timing which was used extensively throughout the US

          Harold was an active member of the Ski Club Zipfelberger, served two terms as President of the Rocky Mountain Ski Association in 1959 and 1960, received a National Ski Association citation for Distinguished Service in 1961, and received the Rocky Mountain Halstead Memorial Award in 1962.
