As President of Vail Resorts, Inc. and President and Chief Executive Officer of Vail Associates, Inc., Andy Daly caps an outstanding career as an inspirational ski-sport builder who has brought international stature to Colorado skiing.

A native of Andover, Massachusetts, he received an undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in1968 and a master of business administration from the University of Denver in 1980.

Andy has had multi-faceted background in resort management.  He began his career at Aspen Highlands during the 1969/1970-ski season, starting in trail crew and later moving into ski patrol.  In December of 1972 he moved to Copper Mountain and continued patrolling; progressing to patrol director, mountain manager, vice president of operations and finally President /CEO in January, 1982.  He was recognized for his standards set in guest service programs, his early embracing of snowboarding as an important trend and his ability to grow skier days in the highly competitive Colorado Front Range market.

In 1987 became owner and president of the Lake Eldora Ski Corporation where he re-energized the small resort.  He subsequently joined Vail Associates as President of Beaver Creek Resort and Executive Vice President of Vail Associates, Inc.  He assumed the presidency of Vail Associates in 1992.

In an addition to presiding over a world-class resort, Andy is the longest standing director of Colorado Ski Country USA, presently serving as chairperson.  He also is longtime director of the National Ski Areas Association, serving as visionary and first chairman of the environment committee and chair of the Public Lands committee.  He co-founded the American Avalanche Foundation to promote avalanche safety, research and government interaction.  He is also a founding director of the Colorado Tourism Board, a board member of the Vail Valley Foundation, the Jimmy Heuga Foundation and Ski Club Vail.

Andy Daly has a longtime commitment to amateur ski racing in Colorado.  He supported the U.S. National and World Cup competitions at Copper Mountain; the University of Colorado Race Team at Eldora; and the continuing heritage of the World Cup at Vail and Beaver Creek, culminating in the 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships.
