Evelyn is the first woman to have served on the Board of Directors of the United States Ski Association; she was also a trustee of the US Ski Educational Foundation, the fundraising arm of the USSA. In that capacity she raised funds for the US National and Olympic ski teams. Since 1985, she has been an officer of the Rocky Mountain Division Educational Competition Fund.

Over the years, Evelyn served with dedication as organizer, official and committee member for many racing and ski-related events. She has received the USSA's Blegen Award, and the Rocky Mountain Ski Association's Halstead Memorial Award for her service to skiing.

Back in 1955, Evelyn met her husband, Art, at Willy Schaeffler's Arapahoe Basin Ski School. The Evelyn and Art Masbruch Award is given annually to recognize exceptional volunteer work in alpine skiing.
