Ian Ferguson is an import from New England, having grown up in Vermont and skied for the University of Vermont. Following that, he taught in the Sepp Rusch Ski School in Stowe, Vt.

He joined the Head Ski company in 1961 as a sales rep and worked his way into advertising and promotion. He was also Product manager and Domestic Sales Manager. He moved to Colorado in 1969 to work for the Lange Company, and became director of Sales. He again rejoined the Head Ski company for a short time, until he joined Ski Magazine in 1974, where he currently is Associate Western Sales Manager.

Throughout his affiliation with the sport, he has been involved with many special events and promotions benefiting many industry organizations and special causes, such as the Eighth Interski in Aspen in 1968, copper Mountain Crystal Awards, the Rocky Mountain Ski Writers Association and the University of Colorado Ski Team fund raisers.
